2011 edition : teaser

The seventeenth edition of the Festival des 7 Collines once again puts an emphasis to dance and contemporary circus, while also presenting off-the-beaten-track forms, giving birth to good surprises.

Openness to the world, with a true willingness to highlight the matches between committed artists, remains essential for this event. If identity and roots are recurrent social themes, they also are a well of energy and inspiration for artists. For instance, Nigerian Qudus Onikeku uses dance to heal from his exile. He dazzles us with a danced and acrobatic gracious choreography. For their part, Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui and Gregory Maqoma express ancient habits and rules, with a modern approach. New Yorkers Charlotte Ford and Geoff Sobelle question the room taken by men in Nature, offering us a delightful comedy on our specie’s decline.

With the same wit, Frédéric Ferrer laughs at global warming, highlighting the comical side of scientific experiments on that topic.

The Mummenschanz escape from reality for a silent, beautiful world where strange monsters made of pipes and cardboard enchant us. Further on, young german choreographer Hermann Heisig’s lonely characters show up humour and poetry. Here are the keys for a successful event, starting on june 30th with Staff Benda Bilili’s show, whose energy made them successful all over the world.

Thanks to our partners’ help and commitment, we can offer you an intense event, spreading to other new cities, and we are really thankful to them for that. We invite you to enjoy this 17th edition, which will be, hopefully, full of surprises!
